EIF Mother's Day Initiative

ree

The Epiphany Initiative foundation Mother's day giveaway was the first-ever initiative of the foundation. EIF partnered with Epiphany Restaurant to raise money through an Apple Watch giveaway that saw the restaurant exchange raffle tickets for every pound of the Epiphany famous wings and festivals. The fundraiser saw 20% of proceeds go to the EIF for the mother's day initiative.

This event touched home for founder Donte Henry as "growing up in a single-mother household, gas and groceries weren't always easy to come by. I remember times when coaches, family, or friends would pitch in to make sure we were making end meets. I am not where I want to be in my career. However, I am thankful for the strides my family and I have made. That pay it forward mentality will always be a part of the person I am, and Mother's day was the perfect day to start EIF Initiatives. As Mothers are the backbone and heartbeats of our families, they must be celebrated every day.

The first stop initiative event took place at NoFrils in the Yorkgate Plaza. Donte Henry identified Mothers throughout the store and gave out 20 dollars no-frills gift cards with a rose. This then led to the second giveaway location at Petro Canada, located at Jane and Shoreham. Donte proceeded to give away a 20 dollar gas gift card to the mothers he identified. "This was probably one of the hardest things I have done in my life as each mother had a different reaction to the gesture, overall it was positive, but it was the introduction hurdle that varied. I am happy that I could pull off this initiative, and I am excited for what's to come."
